The methodology, open.
No black box. Here is exactly what we ask, where we ask it, and how your grade is calculated — the same math our paid Monitor uses every week.
Step 1
We ask what your customers ask
Six prompt types per trade, written the way real people type them — comparisons, urgent problems, "who should I call". Your city is substituted into every prompt. Here's the set for a Toronto plumber:
- 1"best plumber in Toronto"
- 2"who is the most reliable plumber in Toronto"
- 3"top rated plumber in Toronto 2026"
- 4"I need a plumber in Toronto, who should I call"
- 5"plumber in Toronto with good reviews"
- 6"burst pipe repair Toronto"
Step 2
On every engine your customers use
Each prompt runs on all four engines with live web access, three times each — because AI answers vary, and one lucky answer shouldn't decide your grade. 6 prompts × 4 engines × 3 runs = 72 answers analyzed.

Step 3
Scored out of 100, graded A–F
Mention rate
How often you're named across all 72 answers. The core of the grade.
Ranking position
Named first = full points. Second = 12. Third = 6. AI order matters — callers rarely reach name three.
Sentiment
How you're described when named: recommended enthusiastically, listed neutrally, or flagged negatively.
Engine coverage
How many of the 4 engines know you exist. Full marks needs all four.
